My Journey to Laos Fundraiser
On December 3, 2011, I will be venturing to Laos, a small, poor landlocked country in Southeast Asia to volunteer my time and energy with a small Canadian organization, Adopt a Village in Laos, whose mission is to improve and empower the lives of the hill tribes of rural Laos through distribution of water purification filters, installing hygienic toilets, building schools, and sponsoring students and teachers.
I have already secured my plane ticket to get me there and back. I have already paid for all the necessary shots and medications to keep me healthy while I am there. But I am still short in some of the necessities for my trip. With less than two months to go before I leave, I'm starting to get nervous that I won't have them in time for my trip. The organization is not helping me in any way with my travel expenses. It has been up to me to take care of that.
With this in mind, I have decided to initiate a small fundraising campaign in the hope that I will be able to raise the needed funds, which are, quite honestly, very modest for this venture. From October 1 to November 30, this campaign will run. The goal is to secure $500. Contributions ranging from $5 to $20 Canadian are accepted and can be made directly via PayPal.
Since this campaign began, $190 has already been contributed. That means I only have $310 to go!
If you prefer, please feel free to email me at myjourneytolaos@gmail.com and we can chat.
Yours sincerely,
Roland Drake
